Mode of Operation

For the bundling of up to six different Internet access lines, Viprinet uses a specially designed VPN tunnel technique. It establishes an encrypted VPN tunnel through all available access lines and sends the packed data streams through this tunnel. Therefore, the operation of at least two devices, a Multichannel VPN Router and a Multichannel VPN Hub, is required. The router is based in the company location that is to be tied to the Internet. It is intended for establishing the tunnel and distributing and encrypting the data stream. Towards the LAN, the tunnel will appear as one single line. The bandwidth of this line will be the sum of all Internet access lines available.

The hub, on the other hand, is the receiver of the sent data. It is usually located within a pivotal data center and serves as remote station. Here, the data stream will be decrypted and correctly reassembled before being forwarded to its original destination in the Internet. In case of a company network linking different locations, the Multichannel VPN Hub will also manage the data exchange between the connected offices.

Better than WAN Balancing

Whereas WAN loadbalancers, due to their lack of a remote station, are only capable of managing outbound traffic, Viprinet's client/server architecture effects comprehensive control of all lines in both directions. Wire capacities will be utilized ideally, with minimal latency. Thus, the WAN connection will achieve a level of reliability and stability previously unknown.
