Software licenses

The Viprinet technology provides a number of features that bring about vital advantages for several specialized applications. They can be purchased as software license keys. An acquired license key must be activated on the Multichannel VPN Router / Hub it is intended for.

Enhanced SNMP monitoring

Users managing and monitoring their networks with SNMP can use a corresponding monitoring feature for all Viprinet devices. All devices have basic monitoring integrated. In addition, the feature "enhanced SNMP monitoring" allows for requesting detailed information on all configured VPN tunnels with SNMP. The Multichannel VPN Router 2610 and Multichannel VPN Hub 2000 as well as 5000 have enhanced SNMP monitoring installed as a standard. All other devices must be upgraded with a respective license key.

License keys must be purchased for each device to be monitored by SNMP.

Hub redundancy system

Highest availability in datacenters: In addition to those VPN Hubs in productive use, one or more backup ("hot spare") VPN Hubs can be operated that will – in case of a Hub malfunction – take over the whole identity including complete config and IP addresses of the defective device with the least possible delay. Hence, a VPN Hub failure will mean only seconds of downtime for affected users. As soon as the former productive VPN Hub is ready for use again, it will resume its former operation, whereas the backup VPN Hub will resume its hot spare status.

Hub redundancy is included in the Multichannel VPN Hubs 2000 and 5000 serially; for the Multichannel VPN Hub 1000, a license key is required.

A license key must be purchased for each Hub to be employed in a redundancy system as productive device or as hot spare device.

Streaming optimization

An autotuning and bonding mode especially optimized for streaming applications, improving the transfer of very latency sensitive data through unreliable media such as UMTS/3G. Be it mobile video streaming or Citrix via UMTS/3G: The new streaming optimization has a considerable effect on performance.

A license key must be purchased for every Hub using respectively optimized tunnels, and for every node using such tunnels.

Hub tunnel segmentation

This new Multichannel VPN Hub feature allows for terminating several different customers on the same VPN Hub with their data traffic being completely separated from each other. The chief advantage is that several customers can use the same conflicting IP range. This means that for example the IP network 192.168.0.0/24 can be multiply terminated. The tunnel segmentation then works similar to a VLAN system.

License keys must be purchased for VPN Hubs only; for Multichannel VPN Router operating as VPN Nodes, this feature is neutral. Here, no license key is required.
